A domain name
is a name that identifies one or more IP addresses. For example,
the domain name microsoft.com represents about a dozen IP
addresses. Domain names are used in URLs to identify particular Web
pages. For example, in the URL http://www.vrbwebs.com/index.html,
the domain name is 'vrbwebs.com'.
Every domain name has a suffix that
indicates what top level domain (TLD) it belongs to.
There are a limited number of such domains which you may be familiar
with. Examples of common TLD's:
.gov
- Government Agencies
.edu - Educational Institutions
.org - Organizations (usually nonprofit)
.mil - Military
.com - Commercial Business
.net - Network Organizations
.ca - Canadian designation
.cn - Chinese designation
.pro - Professionals in legal, medical and accounting
fields
Why do I need a domain name?
You will need to buy a domain name if
you want to have a unique email address - eg.) yourname@your_customized_domain_name.com.
You will also need to purchase a domain
name if you want to publish a website for your personal or business
using your unique domain name. eg.) www.your_customized_domain_name.com
How do I register my domain
name?
VRBWebs.com can register domain names ending with .com, .net, .org,
and .ca. Simply enter your desired domain name into our Smart
Domain Search Box located at the top of this page, and click search.
How long can a domain name be
and what are the restrictions?
A domain name can have a maximum of 67 characters including the extension
(.com, .net, .org). A domain name can contain numbers (0-9), letters
(a-z) or dashes (-). A domain name cannot start or end with a dash (-).
A domain name cannot have characters such as (! @#$%&? ~: _).
Will my name and contact information
be publicly available?
Yes. Information about who is responsible for domain names is publicly
available to allow rapid resolution of technical problems and to permit
enforcement of consumer protection, trademark and other laws. This information
is available to the public through our whois service.
What if the domain name I want
to use is already taken?
You can choose an alternative domain name, or if you feel that you have
a right to the unavailable domain name, you could follow the domain
dispute policy and try to acquire that particular domain name.
How long does it take to register
a domain name?
The domain registration is completed as soon as we receive the completed
registration form and payment. The registration process takes minutes.
A confirmation e-mail is sent to the domain name's administrative and
billing contacts with the details of the domain registration.
NOTE: The zone files,
which make the Internet work, are updated twice daily, 7 days a week,
beginning at 5:00 am and 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. Requests received
and completed by these times will be included in the next zone file
update. However, your newly created/modified record may not be visible
in the whois database for 24-48 hours from the time of the zone file
is updated.
How do I sell/give/transfer
ownership of my domain name to another person/company?
Please download the correct form for your domain name and copy the form
onto the company letterhead or personal stationary of the registrant.
The form must be notarized and then mailed or couriered to us at the
following address, along with the 35$ fee:

How much does a domain registration
cost?
Domain name registration fee is $25USD per domain name, per year. e-mail
forwarding and domain forwarding.
How do I renew my domain registration?
If we are the Registrar for your domain name, you can renew
and extend the registration term for your domain at anytime by logging
into the Account Manager area of our website and clicking on the
Renew link at the top of this page. Domains can be renewed and extended
for periods from 1 to 10 years.
How do I modify an existing
domain name record?
You can update contact names for administrative contact, billing contact,
the registrant address, e-mail address, phone number and fax number
by logging in to the your account by clicking on the Manage
link at the top of this page.
My domain name is about to expire.
How do I renew it?
If you registered your domain name through vrbwebs.com, you may renew
it using the Renew link at the top of this
page. This option requires a user name and password.
How do I transfer from my current
Registrar to here?
Transfer your domain using our automated Registrar Transfer Form and

How do I transfer multiple domain
names from my current Registrar to here?
You may transfer domains one at a time using our Automated Registrar
Transfer Form. Or to transfer multiple domains manually, please contact
support. Domain Transfers are $25 USD per transfer, which includes a
one-year registration added to your current remaning registration term.

How do I cancel my domain name?
Since our governing body does not allow cancellations with a refund,
we cannot offer them to our clients.
If you no longer want your domain
name, we suggest that you attempt to sell your domain name through a
domain name broker (do a search for "domain name broker" on
any search engine) or give your domain name to an interested party.
How do I change my domain name
server (DNS) information?
If your domain name is registered at vrbwebs.com, you can login to your
account using the manage link at the top of
this page, to modify the name server information for your domain name
at any time. DNS information is processed at 5:00 am and 5:00 pm. Eastern
Standard Time.
How often does your whois information
get updated?
Our whois is one of the most frequently updated databases of all Registrars.
Our system updates every half-hour on the hour.
I already have a web site. How
can I get my domain name to point to my web site?
With every domain registered, you receive domain and e-mail forwarding.
I have misspelled my domain
name. How do I go about getting it corrected?
Unfortunately, once a domain name is registered, it can not be altered,
including spelling corrections. An alternative is to register the correctly
spelled domain name and forward the incorrect one to your correct one.
This will allow your customers can still find you even if they make
the same mistake. If, at the end of the current registration period,
you still do not want the incorrect domain name, do not renew it; simply
let it expire.
When I register my domain name
with vrbwebs, who actually owns it?
Unlike some Registrars, when you register your domain name with vrbwebs.com,
the Registrant that you listed on the order form is considered the legal
holder of the domain name for the duration of the current registration
term. We have no interest in owning your domain name(s). If we wanted
them, we would have registered them already!
Do I have to have a web page
now that I have a domain name?
Domain name registration is simply a name reservation service, and you
are not required to do anything with your domain name. You may wish
to simply reserve it, forward e-mail through it, or construct a web
site. It is completely up to you.
